From the Head Students

Olivia Bayne —

We hope that everyone has had a wonderful past couple of weeks. The end of the term is creeping up on us so quickly; my goodness, this year raced by! There are some very exciting things happening at this time of year, and we encourage you to get involved in making the most of the final school events.

SADD Week

This year's SADD Week organised by the Student Council was very successful and interactive. We were lucky enough to have the booze bus and police come and join us at school. The Year 13 Student Council and prefects organised a $5 school carwash. There were also Duck Island ice cream sales, with the money raised going to the SADD organisation. This was a great week filled with awareness of the dangers of drunk/drug driving in NZ and where we can stand to make a change.

Senior-derived grade exams

The school has been fairly empty the past two weeks, with our senior students away on study leave and only coming into school to sit their senior-derived grade exams. We wish all senior students the best of luck and hope they receive the grades they have worked hard for (or an indication of the areas they can improve on). The revised exams are beneficial as we can identify or revise the topics that we need extra support on before the final exams.

House Chapel Service

On Sunday the 11 September, we had  House Chapel Service led by Hillary, Ross, and Blake. However, due to the other three houses' chapel service not happening due to COVID restrictions and then calendar limitations,  we welcomed all our students from all the Houses to come and attend. This Chapel Service was one of the largest turnouts we have ever had on a Sunday evening at Chapel. It was a special gathering as we paid tribute and respect to the late Queen.

Have a fabulous term break.
