School Association News
The Association held our Annual AGM in April. We were able to retain Vanessa Sharratt as Treasurer and Megan Beveridge as Secretary. As Renee Beere resigned as Chairperson, this role currently remains unfilled. We eagerly anticipate a new person stepping up to take on the part with support from the Association and the outgoing Chairperson. This role involves coordinating various positions led by experienced people to continue the value the Association adds to Waikato Diocesan School.
Jenny Xu is continuing to co-ordinate the Dio Bears sales, and many people want to help as and when they can, with hospitality at functions, stock scheme, boarder parent support and representing the staff.
At the AGM, the members voted to increase the Parent Contribution to the Association from $40 to $45 annually. This fee is used for the Dio Teachers Wish List at the end of each year and has been used for additional teaching and resource support. Last year’s list included Maaori resources for English classes, additional mega booms, kitchen catering mixers, a human skeleton model for Bio, a robot for Design and Visual Tech classes, and some furnishings for the Library and new student services centre. The additional $5 will support increasing costs in administration associated with computer programmes and consultants' fees.
Summer sport funding applications were received, and the following groups were accepted for funding support: Senior Volleyball, Senior Futsal, Senior A Waterpolo and Dio 1st XI Cricket.
