From the Head Students
We hope you have had a productive few weeks and that our senior students are preparing well for our upcoming senior-derived grade exams. As we are heading towards the end of Term 3, the school year is zooming by, so we encourage you to get involved with anything and everything you are offered to be a part of to make the most of the year.
Dio vs St Johns Netball
Our mighty Dio prefect team took on the challenge versus the St John's College prefect team in a netball game. We put up our best fight with lots of fun and banter with the opposition. Unfortunately, they scraped a win by a couple of points, but the margin was so slim our team almost claimed a draw. Thank you to St John's for the fun afternoon, and potentially we will have a rematch soon.
Tournament Week
Congratulations to our wonderful sportswomen that competed in an array of sporting codes in the annual NZ Winter Tournament Week. You represented our school with pride and performed to a high level, coming out with wonderful results. We are all so proud of you, keep up the good work, and we can't wait to see where you go in the future with your sporting codes.
Father Daughter Breakfast
On Monday, the 5th of September, we held our Dio annual Father Daughter Breakfast. This event is always so lovely and special as we gather to celebrate our lovely Fathers and what incredible role models they are for us. Thank you to the events team for organising such a special event.
High Achievers' Concert
We recently had our High Achievers' Concert, where our very talented students performed their musical items. We are all so proud of them. Congratulations to you all. You are stars!
Old Girls' Reunion
On Saturday, the 3rd of September, the Dio 10-year reunion was held at Dio. This was a lovely day for these Dio Old Girls to come together and reconnect after a long time apart. This is a very special tradition which is in place to keep the whanaungatanga and manaakitanga of our Kura alive for many years to come. Roll on our turn in 10 years!
Year 10 Enterprise
As a school community, we are so proud of our Year 10 students who took part in the enterprise this year. Your hard work did not go unnoticed, and we were all impressed with your products and marketing knowledge. The award winners were so hard to choose as everyone did such an incredible job. A special thank you to the enterprise managers and the teachers who helped organise and make this event possible.
The Big Sing Finale
Congratulations to our wonderful Bel Suono Choir, who travelled to Christchurch to compete at The Big Sing Finale. It was such a wonderful performance by our extremely talented singer. Thank you so much to Mrs Colvin and Mrs Greenslade for organising such a successful trip for our talented students.
Cross-country
Dio Cross-country 2022 was a day of excitement and fun for our Dio students. It allowed us all to come together and celebrate house spirit and friendship. With our inspirational 3km runners giving the competitive section a very good nudge, we had some wonderful results! Having a non-competitive section is always such a hit, where our students who want to give the 1km lap a go and get involved can be a part of it with their friends and get some house points. A big up to the house leaders for running such a fun jump jam warm-up and to the sports council for setting up the event. We all appreciate it!
Whaanau Dinner
On Friday, September 9, we are holding our Whaanau Dinner. Due to COVID, this could not occur last year, so everyone is looking forward to the evening. I can’t wait to share about it in my next DioNews write-up.
