Pink Ribbon Breakfast

To support the progress New Zealanders are making together to defeat breast cancer we held a Pink Ribbon Breakfast on Friday 27 May. Although the breakfast did have a fundraising element, the main intention was to inform our young waahine of the importance of recognising this disease and to acknowledge their role in taking responsibility for their health. We encouraged the students to talk to their mothers, grandmothers, aunties and friends and encourage regular health checks, as early detection will reduce health risks. Thanks to the catering team for the delicious pancakes with all the treats, even pink candy floss!

Matariki Celebrations

On the 22nd of June, we hosted a Matariki-themed dinner, followed by celebrative events. After dinner students were provided with the opportunity to learn how to make poi and flax weaving. Our Boarders chapel which was incorporated within the Matariki holiday also paid tribute to those who we have lost, as well as celebrating the new year and new life which will be created. It provided a sense of normality again for the boarders holding events as a whole boarding group.
