Info for Arts and Culture Co-Curricular

Georgina Hewitt —

The Arts and Culture Co-curricular guide has lots of information about where to find information, some important people, important dates, and, of course, all the various co-curricular activities.

Please take the time to look at this with your child/children, as we understand that some co-curricular activities need whaanau commitment (i.e. ensuring students get to and from rehearsals, practices, and competitions).

If students have any potential clashes with arts and sports at Dio, please encourage them to chat face-to-face with me or with the team in the sports office. Both areas are committed to having our students have a balanced school life.

Once you have looked at the guide, chatted together and made a plan for your year, students can sign up for the activity/activities using this Google form that will be sent to all student school emails on Wednesday, 31 January. Registration will be open until Friday, 9 February. Many of our groups will start their first rehearsals/meetings in the weeks starting 12 February.

Students wanting to sign up for instrument lessons must complete the Learn an Instrument Enrolment Form on the Arts and Culture page of the school website and return it to the Student Services reception or scan and email to arts@wdsg.school.nz, as places are limited.

With most arts groups, there is no immediate financial commitment, and students can withdraw after the first meeting/rehearsal if they think it is not for them. Please communicate this in writing/email to either the teacher in charge or me.

If students want to chat and discuss the options before committing, my office is outside PMC1 (Dance studio). Students can also discuss the options with the student Arts Captains - a good chance to do this is at lunchtime at our upcoming Clubs Day on Thursday, 8 February. We are here to help!
