Key Boarding Dates and Events

TERM 1 2023

Week 1

Tuesday,  31 January:

  • Year 9 students with parents arrive in full school uniform for a welcome and afternoon tea by 3.00 pm. Please enter via Gate 1 on River Road, leave baggage in vehicles and enter boarding via Bishops Hall. NB: We will be collecting permission forms at this time.

NB: Dinner for Year 9 students and student leaders will be at 5.30 pm. (Year 9 parents will depart boarding before this time - at approx. 5.00 pm)

  • Year 13 leaders and peer support leaders - return at 7.00 pm in preparation for training during the week. Please enter via Gate 2. NB: the dining room will NOT be open for returning senior students.

Wednesday,  1 February:

  • Year 9 Orientation – the first day of school.
  • Year 13 leadership training (Holland House).

NB: The dining room is open for all Year 9 students, Year 13 leaders and peer support leaders.

  • The remaining Year 13 students return to boarding by 7.00 pm. 

NB: the dining room will NOT be open for returning Year 13 students on this day.

Thursday,  2 February:

  • Year 13 first day of school - regular classes in full school uniform.
  • Year 9 Orientation continues.

NB: The dining room is open for Years 9 and 13 and student leaders who are boarders for breakfast, lunch (packed lunches) and dinner.

Friday, 3 February:

  • Year 9 students continue with orientation.
  • Year 13 in regular classes.

NB: The dining room is open for all Years 9 and 13 students and student leaders who are boarders for breakfast, lunch (packed lunches) and dinner.

  • Boarding Exeat: the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the long weekend. NB: All students are expected to be back between 5-7.00 pm on Monday,  6 February, to prepare well for the first ‘regular’ week. This includes all senior students. 

NB: The dining room is closed for dinner.

Week 2

  • Monday, 6 February: all boarders (including Years 10 and 12) are back in boarding (between 5-7.00 pm). 

NB: the dining room is closed on this day.

  • Tuesday, 7 February: All students at school (for official poowhiri). Year 13 departs for camp and returns Friday, 10 February.

Week 3

  • Tuesday, 14 February - Valentine’s Theme Dinner - 6.00 pm for all boarders
  • Thursday, 16 February - School Swimming Sports

Week 4

  • Tuesday, 21 February - Shrove Tuesday
  • Wednesday, 22 February - Ash Wednesday
  • Thursday, 23 February - Athletics Day at Porritt Stadium
  • Friday, 24 February to Saturday, 25 February: Compulsory Boarding ‘In-Weekend’ (separate information will be shared with more information). Students can apply for leave from 5.00 pm Saturday.

Week 6

  • Friday 10 March: School Open Day
  • Sunday 12 March: Boarders’ Chapel, 7.30 pm at St Paul’s Collegiate (students in full uniform & all families welcome to join us). Students are to return to boarding by 6.15 pm to prepare for departure by bus to St Paul's.

Week 7

  • Monday 13 March Year 9 School Camp - Ngaaruawaahia
  • Boarding Exeat: the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the weekend. Students must return in school uniform on Sunday by 7.00 pm or Monday morning before 8.00 am.

Week 9

  • Summer Tournament Week

Week 10

  • End of term clean up
  • Thursday, 7 April - 3.00 pm end of school day/term. The boarding houses are closed from 5.00 pm for the Easter break.

NB: For catering purposes, weekend leave must be approved/endorsed by parents each week before Thursday 8.00 am at the latest.

Term 2

  • Monday, 24 April 2023 (Accord Teacher Only Day) - school closed.
  • Tuesday, 25 April 2023 (Anzac Day) - Boarding students are expected to return to boarding between 5-7.00 pm. 

NB: the dining room will NOT be open on this day.

  • Wednesday, 26 April 2023 - the first day of school for Term 2
