Future Horizons

Dio Communications —

At the end of July, 45 Years 10 and 11 students took courses as part of the Future Horizons programme.

At school, there was a First Aid First Responder course running for some keen beans eager to learn these valuable life-saving skills.

Offsite at Industry Training Solutions were two groups. There was the always popular Basic Barista course for students to have a practical day on the machines learning to make many different coffees. Next door was an Intro to Customer Service course where students learned ways to give great service, communication skills, and using the Seaside Sallys retail store to practice their skills.

There were some very creative and entertaining activities completed, and the students were treated to some hot chocolates made by our barista students. It was so nice to see the Dio team looking so relaxed and having a fun day together.

There will be many options in 2023 for students to complete courses and Gateway work experience programmes which include NCEA credits. These will be advertised later in the year and in Term 1. For more information on these, please contact Kym Plaisted - kplaisted@wdsg.school.nz
