Words from our Head of Boarding 2024

Dio Communications —

For 2024 I have chosen our boarding theme based on the whakataukī ‘Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, he toa takitini’. This translates to ‘My strength is not as an individual but as a collective’.

I believe this fits well with boarding as we are a community that needs to work together to achieve our goals of being a collaborative, positive, respectful and kind community. Each boarder brings their unique ways, which we value and appreciate, to contribute to complete us.

The image used to support the theme for next year to me is linked to our Anglican special character in that the large hand or trunk of the tree represents God, who is at our centre and how, through following Him, we can create a strong boarding community. The smaller handprints or branches and leaves of the tree represent us or everyone in boarding and Dio and how we are brought together for a reason, and as we work together focused on building, we are all stronger together rather than as individuals.
