Student Leave Process

Dio Communications —

A timely reminder in this first issue of DioNews regarding the procedures in and around student leave: we have already had requests from parents/caregivers requesting student leave from one day to one or three weeks during the school term for various reasons, important events and occasions.

Please note which process to follow depends on the days your daughter/s will be absent from school. The below information is also in our School Handbook.

Your daughter will be absent from school for a day or part of a day

Parent/caregiver to phone the school absence line and leave a message giving a reason for the absence before 8.30 am – Phone 07 855 2038 and press 1 or email absent@wdsg.school.nz with an explanation.

Your daughter is planning to be away from school for leave of more than one day

Applications for leave should be made in writing to the Deputy Principal in charge of leave via our student leave application form on our school website. Please allow at least ten school days for processing. It is the student’s responsibility to:

  1. Check on any assessments due during this time by completing a Student Absent Assessment Form available from Student Services
  2. Discuss work and potential assessment set during the absence with teachers
  3. Return the form to Student Services.

Please note: Students must complete the Student Absent Assessment Form and return it to Student Services before the leave approval process is actioned.
