Waikato Diocesan School For Girls’ major production for 2023 is Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

With sincere apologies to Will (although we suspect he’d approve), our version is a rebelliously edited punk/Elizabethan mashup of the play. With an upbeat, high-spirited soundtrack, played live by our punk band, 44 students on stage and a multi-level set full of punk-era junk and rolling props, this extremely physical version of the classic play brings alive the joy and mischief of both genres. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play about love: unrequited, confused, messy, joyful, flawed and wonderful love.
