The Dio Invitation Team played their first tournament as a unit. They bonded well and placed 3rd overall in their grade.

It was a great tournament, with excellent team building overall. To top the event off, Amy Thomas was selected as Premier A MVP in the final game. Well done Netballers!

Gymnastics

Over the July school holidays, Dio had seven talented gymnasts compete at the New Zealand Gymnastics Championships: Harriet Vellenoweth and Cate Young (Step 9 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics), Poppy Hancock, Eva Conlon and Ella Blomfield (Step 7 WAG), Taylor McCarthy (Step 5 WAG, Trampoline and Double-mini trampoline) and Sophia Chaney (Trampoline and Double-mini trampoline). Qualifying for this event is a fantastic feat in itself. Every one of them performed with passion, energy and determination.

Outstanding results were achieved by Step 9 gymnasts from the Waikato. They took out the top three places with Cate Young - National All-Round Champion, and silver medal to Harriet Vellenoweth. Dio athletes did well for apparatus medals with Harriet (Gold, vault) and Cate (silver, vault; silver, beam; bronze, bar).

Sophia Chaney and Taylor McCarthy achieved top ten finishes in the 13 & 14-year-old girls trampoline. Sophia obtained 6th in trampoline, 6th in double mini trampoline and 7th in synchronised trampoline and Taylor secured 10th in trampoline and 8th in synchronised trampoline.
