Dux and Proxime Accessit 2022

Dio Communications —

Dux is a Latin word meaning 'to lead'. In New Zealand schools, this title is given to the highest academic achiever for the year. It is the most prestigious award at our school. We also acknowledge the students ranked 2nd (Proxime Accessit), 3rd, 4th and 5th in terms of academic achievement.

Ranking for these awards is calculated from the Grade Average of a student’s best five Level 3 subjects and only for Achievement Standards completed, marked, moderated and submitted before or on Wednesday, 28 September 2022, in preparation for our Senior Prizegiving on Thursday, 27 October 2022. Students from any year level are eligible. The ranking is based on a normalised Grade Average of five Level 3 subjects, taking into account the different number of credits on offer in different subjects. In the event of a tie, additional credits or issues will be considered to avoid a joint award. In the case of a student in a year level other than Year 13 earning one of these awards, the credits may only be used once. The following year will be based only on subjects not already utilised in determining the previous award.

We are in the midst of one of our busiest and most important times of the academic year for our students as they face their November NCEA examinations.

To assist your daughter with her study programme, we had Patrick Sherratt, a nationally renowned speaker and advocate for how to study effectively, come into our school to work with our Year 11 cohort. Students walked away from the session with study materials and practical ideas on maximising their success in the upcoming examinations.
