After a two-year COVID disruption, It has been exciting to see the relaunch of our exchange partnership with Downe House School, Berkshire, UK.
Two Year 10 students, Gabby Hall and Olivia Bell arrived in the UK on the 15th of November for a month-long stay and immediately immersed themselves with great gusto into the school's busy academic, sporting and full boarding life.
Shortly after arrival, both girls were delighted and proud to be enlisted for a Downe House sporting team, Olivia for Netball and Gabby for Hockey. They also received a warm welcome from their respective host sisters and their families. They have been lucky enough to experience an array of wonderful activities, including sightseeing trips in London, attending West End Musical shows, and Christmas markets, and one of them was lucky enough to watch the All Blacks play England at Twickenham (not the best result for the All Blacks!).
Olivia and Gabby are making the most of their final weeks at Downe House and looking forward to participating in some of the school's Christmas functions and festivities. In March next year, we will welcome their host sisters, Annabel Jackaman and Georgia Ainscough, to Waikato Diocesan for four weeks. Along with our host families, we look forward to being able to reciprocate some of their wonderful hospitality.
