Transport/Vehicle Use at Boarding Reminders

Boarding Van

Boarding has an 11-seater van driven by the wonderful Brett Addison on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 3.30-8.30 pm and on Wednesday, 2.30-8.30 pm. Bookings for the van are essential and are coordinated by boarding staff the evening prior. Van use priority is as follows: school teams and activities such as rowing, touch, volleyball, netball, and cheerleading. All other activities are deemed personal, such as dance, tutoring, physio, dentist appointments, etc., and will be considered each day. This is a complimentary service, and students will be accommodated where and if possible. Transporting students can be challenging with venues across the city and at various times. Therefore, we ask that arrangements be made with team coaches, managers and day student parents or teammates to help with transport needs. Note: All drivers must be approved.

Boarders MUST be ready to leave at the listed departure time. This means signed out, water bottles filled and waiting outside Bishops Hall with all their gear. Boarders must be ready at the scheduled pick-up time. Delays have a detrimental effect on all subsequent rides.

Taxis /Ubers

If a boarder needs to use a taxi/uber as a mode of transport, all costs must be paid for by the student. Dio does not have accounts with any taxi companies, and costs cannot be disbursed. Please ensure your child has sufficient funds if you require them to use a taxi/uber.

Private Vehicles

Under no circumstances is a student permitted to bring a car to school without permission from Gwen Hurley Assistant Director of Boarding and Senior House Parent. Students must apply to be considered for this privilege. A letter of permission from a parent or guardian must be attached to the official application form detailing the activities for which approval is sought. The type of activities must be permitted under the boarding rules, e.g. travel to and from home or to sports training/events off-site. As parking spaces are limited, priority will be given to Year 13 boarders. Car parks will be individually assigned to specific students with the exclusive right to those parks. Car keys must be handed to the boarding staff on arrival back at boarding and will be locked in the office overnight. Students will not be allowed to keep their keys with them overnight. (Weekends may be an exception).
