Congratulations to all our Dio athletes currently representing Dio in our summer sports.
Sophie Hay (Year 12) has had a wonderful swimming season so far and is amongst 40 swimmers named on the Swimming New Zealand Long List for the Youth Commonwealth Games, which will be held in Trinidad and Tobago in August.
And the most impressive result is that Sophie was also the Top Senior Swimmer in our 2023 Dio Swimming Sports!
Congratulations to our top three achievers
Our top house for Swimming Sports this year is Wilson. Congratulations on the collective effort.
A huge shout-out to the wonderful staff from all departments who supported this event, and without whom, the day could not have run.

Supertalented Kate Findlay has been selected for the NZ 18 Women's Touch team to play in Australia in May.
The Waikato Regional Volleyball Championships are underway.
Our students kicked off their season on 25 February with Senior B playing St Peter's B and Sacred Heart B and winning both games. Senior A took the win against St Peter's A. They then went on to win their 4 March game against Te Awamutu High in five sets but lost their second game against Hillcrest High in four sets. Senior B also lost their game to Hamilton Girls' High.
The Senior A team played against Sacred Heart on 26 February and lost in a close 1-0 game.
Our 1st XI Cricket team played Rototuna High School and won. The team has qualified for the Gillette Venus Cup Regionals Tournament on the 29 and 30 of March.
Our senior water polo team competes in the Waikato Open Grade High School competition. Our Senior A Water Polo team won 6-3 against Hamilton Girls' High on 27 February in their weekly competition. On a side note, this team is looking for a goalie; if you're keen, please email our Water Polo Code Captain, Molly Roberts or contact the Sports Office.
Our Dio Vixens team had a win by default last week. Games are weekly on a Thursday at the Hamilton Devils Inline Hockey Rink.
Our Dio rowers competed at the Aon Junior Regatta on lake Karapiro on February 25- 26.
As our first age group regatta, we performed exceptionally well, making 19 finals - 15 of which we finished in the top 5 and 5 of which we won.
These crews were:
U18 8+, U17 8+, U16 8+, U15 8+, and U18 and U16 4+.
We have two regattas remaining for the season - NISS Championships, which take place this weekend (from 10 - 12 March) at Lake Karapiro and Maadi (National Championships), which begins 27 March at Lake Karapiro.
Twelve Equestrian team riders competed at the Waikato Secondary Schools' Show Jumping competition last week. The riders were placed into three teams of four, covering the jumping heights of 75cm, 85cm and 95cm in each team. It was an awesome day, with our riders making us proud. Congratulations to the following riders who brought home a top-four place:
As we enter the second half of the term, we kick off with trials for our flagship winter sports - hockey, netball and football.
We look forward to meeting our supporters out and about.
