Week 1 (NB: Boarding van transport not available this week)

Monday 3 February:

  • Year 13 boarders leave for Camp

  • Year 12 peer support leaders - Please email lizzie.upperton@wdsg.school.nz by 20 January if you intend to return to boarding to attend peer support training including return time. If your return time is before 6pm then you will be included in dinner with our new Year 9 boarders.

  • Year 9 students with parents arrive in full school uniform for a welcome and afternoon tea by 3.00 pm in Selwyn Dining Room. Please enter via Gate 1 on River Road, leave baggage in vehicles and enter boarding via Bishops Hall.

NB: Dinner for Year 9 students and student leaders will be at 5.30 pm. (Year 9 parents will depart boarding before this time - at approx. 5.00 pm)

Tuesday 4 February:

  • Year 9 Orientation – the first day of school.

  • Y12 Peer Support training starts

NB: The dining room is open for all Year 9 students and Year 12 peer support leaders during the day. Boarding students will have packed lunches made at breakfast for this week.

Wednesday 5 February:

  • Year 9 Orientation continues (DRESS in PE HOUSE COLOURS)

  • NB: The dining room is open for all Years 9 & 10 students and peer support leaders who are boarders for breakfast and lunch (packed lunches). The dining room is closed for dinner.

  • Year 13 return from camp

  • Boarding Waitangi Exeat Weekend: the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the long weekend. NB: All students are expected to return between 5 and 7.00 pm on Sunday 9 February, to prepare well for the first ‘regular’ week. This includes all senior students.

Thursday 6 February:

  • WAITANGI DAY

Friday 7 February:

  • Year 9 and 10 students form class 8.30 am to 9.00 am and then start classes

  • TEACHER ONLY DAY

Week 2: (Boarding van transportation starts this week)

  • Sunday 9 February: ALL boarders are back in boarding (between 5-7.00 pm). NB: the dining room is closed on this day.

  • Monday 10 February: All students at school (for official powhiri). 

  • Wednesday 12 February: Year 12/13 Sport, Art and Council training

  • Thursday 13 February: Class and ID Photographs with Photolife. ALL of Boarding photo at 8.15am.

  • Friday 14 February - Valentine's Day

    • Valentine’s Theme Dinner - 5:30 pm for all boarders

    • Friday 14 February to Saturday 17 February. Compulsory Boarding ‘In-Weekend’ (separate communication will be shared with more information). Students can apply for leave from 5.00 pm Saturday.

Week 3

  • Monday 17 February: Investiture of Student Leaders at Chapel

  • Wednesday 19 February - Swimming Sports at Dio Pool

  • Friday 21 February: Y9 Meet the Teacher Evening and Y9 Boarding whaanau dinner 6pm in Selwyn Dining Room.

  • Sunday 23 February: Y10 Literacy and Numeracy parent information evening in Lecture Theatre 7pm

Week 4

  • Thursday 27 February: Athletics at Porritt Stadium

  • Friday 28 February: Chat and afternoon tea with boarding parents 3pm in Selwyn dining room

    • Boarding Exeat Weekend: the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm for the weekend. Students must return on Sunday by 7.00 pm or Monday morning before 8.00 am. (The dining room is closed).

  • Sunday 2 March: International department BBQ around the pool 4pm

Week 5 - Book Week

  • Tuesday 4 March: Shrove Tuesday with Pancake Races and Sales

    • Cuppa at the Kura at Whaanau hui 4.30pm in PMC Foyer

  • Wednesday 5 March: Ash Wednesday and Ash Wednesday Chapel Service 1.30pm

  • Friday 7 March: International Women's Day - Non-uniform day

  • Saturday 8 March: International Women's Day

  • Sunday 9 March Boarders Chapel with St Paul's Collegiate 7.30pm in All Saint's Chapel. Boarders in full uniform and all families welcome to join us. Students are to return to boarding by 6.30 pm.

Week 6

  • Tuesday 11 March: Central Zones Athletics Porrit Stadium

  • Wednesday 12 March to Friday 14 March Year 9 School Camp - Ngaaruawaahia

  • Friday 14 March: Chat and afternoon tea with boarding parents 3pm in Selwyn dining room

Week 7

  • Thursday 20 March: International Day of Happiness

  • Friday 21 March: World Poetry Day

    • OPEN DAY - Tours of Day and Boarding School

  • Sunday 23 March: House Chapel Service

    •  Blake, Hillary and Ross (students in full uniform and all families welcome to join us) at Dio. Students are to return to boarding by 6.00 pm.

Week 8

  • Summer Tournament Week

  • Friday 28 March to Sunday 30 March

    • Boarding Exeat Weekend: the boarding houses will be closed at 5.00 pm on Friday for the weekend. Students must return on Sunday by 7.00 pm or Monday morning before 8.00 am. 

  • Saturday 29 March - Cancer Relay for Life at University of Waikato 9am to 9pm

Week 9

  • Friday 4 April: The Prom Production Dress Rehersal All day

  • Saturday 5 April: The Prom Production Night 7pm in Nancy Light Hall

  • Sunday 6 April: The Prom Production Matinee 2pm in Nancy Light Hall

    • Daylight Savings ends

Week 10

  • End of term clean up

  • Tuesday 8 April - Year 10 Challenge Day

    • School production ends 

  • Friday 11 April - End of Term Chapel 3.20 pm end of school day/term. The boarding houses are closed from 5.00 pm for Term 1-2 holidays.

NB: For catering purposes, weekend leave must be approved/endorsed by parents each week before Wednesday 8.00 pm at the latest.

Term 2

  • Sunday 27 April - Boarding students are expected to return to boarding between 5 and 7.00 pm. NB: the dining room will NOT be open on this day.

  • Monday 28 April - the first day of school for Term 2
