Maths Competitions 2023

Well done to all the students who sat the recent Australian Maths Competition exam for 2023. We had almost 100 students sit (about 15% of the school!). Congratulations to Year 11 student Joy Liao, who received a Distinction Award and the highest mark in the school. First run in 1978, the Australian Mathematics Competition is Australia’s longest-running, largest and most well-known maths competition for school students.

Otago Maths Competition

Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Otago Maths Competition. This is the 38th year of this highly successful competition for students in years 9 to 11 (although younger students may also participate). The competition, which emphasises problem-solving, lasts 50 minutes per part (so one hour, 40 minutes), and every student throughout New Zealand sits the competition on exactly the same days.
