Boarding Devotionals

The purpose of our Boardingt Devotionals is to connect and reflect as a boarding community and to teach one another the 5 marks of mission of the Anglican Church (Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure) and to recognise those who live by the school values.

Rev Stephen, Lily Hayward, Peppa Gribble, Peyton Cruickshank & Olivia Gibson

This term we have had two Sunday Devotionals, the first on the 5th of May where the them was how a good heart will get you places. The second took place on 23rd of June where the theme was Matariki and we remembered those who have passed before us. The purpose of these is to connect and reflect as a boarding collective. We also take these opportunities to recognise those who live by the school values and show the 5 marks of mission (Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure).

Chapels

On the evening of Sunday, the 9th of June, our Dio borders attended a chapel service with St Paul's Collegiate in our All Saints' Chapel. Throughout the service we discussed compassion towards others and how a small acts of service can have a big impact. We are very grateful for the support of Rev Stephen and Mrs Smith.

Theme dinners

This term we have had two themed dinners. The first one took place during Respect Week, where everyone was encouraged to dress in pink to support Pink Shirt Day. This was to stand up against bullying and promote kindness and inclusion. We even had prizes for best dressed. Thanks to the catering team we were fortunate enough to have delicious food for both events. Our second themed dinner took place in celebration of Matariki where we were blessed with the presence of our school kapa haka group. We had a pleasure watching and listening to their musical performance.

Thanks to the Boarding council and Whaea Jackie who have made all the events this term possible and for putting in the extra effort to have a positive impact. We are grateful for each and every student in boarding and cherish everyone's individuality. This term has been really enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

May Ball

Every year the senior students look forward to the May ball organised by the events council, which took place on the 24th with the theme being midnight in May. With the excitement beginning weeks before the ball it meant everyone was well prepared for the night. It was lovely to have the houseparents in attendance as well as a number of year 11’s helping. Overall it was an unforgettable evening, creating cherished memories for everyone involved.

House Singing

This event was held in our Chapel this year and so much more convenient to be onsite. The theme was Kiwi Classics and all the houses did really well. Of course there can be only one winner and that goes to Blake House this year. Everyone had a great time!
