Cancer Society - Relay for Life
Dio Communications — March 30, 2023
Fourteen Dio students and 14 Dio staff participated in the Relay For Life 2023 event at Claudelands Oval on Saturday, raising $3316 - the third-highest fundraiser amongst the schools that participated.
Amongst the many highlights:
- Three teachers walked in excess of 50,000 steps!
- One student walked and ran in excess of 40km!
- Several students smashed goals of walking and running during the day!
- Amiria Douglas and Shelby Bowater sang beautifully during the vigil.

Cyclone Gabrielle Appeal
Our community responded when the call went out for donations to our Cyclone Gabrielle appeal - thanks to Rotokauri School for their incredible contribution. We are now ensuring these items get to the worst affected areas and those most in need. Year 13 student, Jayha Egan (a boarder from Tairāwhiti Gisborne), drove home with a boot full of food and sanitary supplies. We have others in our team ready to travel to other affected locations. Thank you to our generous families and friends.
