This Wednesday (5 April), our Dio School Association will hold its AGM. These dedicated parent helpers organise school events, fundraise and help to create a strong school community.
The School Association is the structure through which parents/caregivers in our school work together for the best possible education for their children. Educational research on the involvement of parents in schools shows that students achieve higher levels when parents and teachers work together.
I thank Renee Beere, the current Chair, who will be stepping down at next week’s AGM. Renee has worked alongside us to bridge the gap between home and school and has been a positive and energetic champion for parents and students. I also thank the other parents stepping down from the Association this year. We thank you for your dedication, advocacy and service.
We would love to see a good turnout of parents at the AGM on 5 April at 7.00 pm in the CRC building, either in person or via ZOOM https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85096751703?pwd=NEJHRjdXeFFpeFppQ0ZVRXRZY2dOUT09, and I encourage you to get involved. Both parents and staff are deeply invested in the education of our Dio students, and the School Association provides an avenue to support your child’s education positively.
Break a leg to our Production team. The four-night season of A Midsummer Night’s Dream kicks off tomorrow night. There are still tickets available, so purchase them here and support the hard work of our talented students. A huge congratulations to all those involved in yet another spectacular Dio Production.
Maadi Cup (New Zealand Secondary Schools Rowing Championships) finals started today, with several Dio crews making finals. I look forward to heading to the lake to support our dedicated rowers.
I also had the opportunity to support our Futsal and Volleyball teams at their Summer Tournament competition. Congratulations to all our students for representing our school so well.
Residents of local rest homes can look forward to a visit from some of our Year 13 students who have continued the long-running tradition of organising the assembling and delivering of Easter Baskets. Yesterday, students used extended form time to make up the baskets of gifts donated by Dio families, which the residents will gratefully receive at the start of next term.
We will conclude our term with sombre reflection and joyous celebration as we remember the price paid for our sins and Christ's victory over sin and death with The Passion of Christ - Supper and soles Chapel Service. As we head into Holy Week, the passion of Jesus Christ shows us the extent of God’s love for us and for creation.
Loving Father, thank you for never giving up on us and reaching out to us to draw us all back to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Blessings
