Maree McCarthy - Camp Coordinator — February 20, 2024
On Wednesday, 31 January, we departed Dio with 94 students and 12 staff to explore aspects of National Park.
On 1 February, the first group of 40 students were treated to a bluebird day as they embarked on the Tongariro Crossing. They showed guts and determination to complete the 21 km with smiles and a huge sense of fulfilment. Sadly, the weather gods weren't on our side on Friday, and the Tongariro Crossing was impassable. Even the alternative tramp was challenging in the conditions.
The adventure on the Tongariro River was also super well received. These Year 13 students exhibited many exceptional qualities that will hold them in good stead for this year and beyond.
