Anna Sinclair -Parents' Assoc Chair — February 19, 2024
The school year has begun, and it is lovely to see the school alive with the chatter and laughter of students. As parents, we want our daughters to be happy at school, make friends, and reach their academic potential. The Parents' Association aims to support our school in these endeavours and help build a strong parent community.
Thank you to those parents who attended our first meeting of the year. We had a good turnout and a constructive meeting. We have many ideas for the year ahead and are excited to share some of these with you very soon.
At this meeting, we also ratified the teacher wish list grants from 2023. We are very pleased to let you know that the Association has funded the following items to a total value of $23,382:
Comprehensive electronics kit (EPro8)
Science app
Calculators
Trees for Gully Project
Rugby goal posts
Support revamp of the student welfare room in the Vicky McLennan Wellness Centre.
Staging equipment
Dance and drama props
Sports wet weather gear bags
Bluetooth speakers and iPad for sporting teams and events.
A Parents' Association tradition is to welcome the parents of Year 9 students to our school with a mix and mingle event. This was held last Friday on the Cherrington Lawn. It was great to see parents socialising together, enjoying the hospitality and building friendships.
We will be in action again at the Dio Open Day, offering refreshments and help to prospective new parents.
We will also offer tea and coffee and a chance for parents to catch up before House Chapel Services this year. We would love you to come and say hi and have a chat.
If you haven’t already signed up for our database - now is a good time. Please email us at dioassociation@wdsg.school.nz with your name, email and the name and year of your daughter. We use this database to email parents about activities we are organising, upcoming events, and how you can get involved.
Our next meeting will be our AGM on Thursday, April 11, at 6.00 pm in the Homestead.
