Our Dio students continue to hit it out of the park with many of our Dio Lacrosse players selected in U15 and U18 Waikato rep teams. This is a testament to how well the team is doing this year.

Over the term break, Year 13 student Katie Hollands represented New Zealand as a member of the NZ U18 Lacrosse Team and played in the Australian National championships in Adelaide. Congratulations, Katie. What an outstanding achievement.
The Dio Cheerleading team recently competed in Tauranga at Battle in the Bay. They were placed 2nd in the High School division. They also received their zero deductions badge. Great team effort! Thanks to Tracey, Amelia and Sam for their support and coaching from Cheer Dynamix 007.

It was an early start for our Senior and Junior Premier and 9A Netball teams as they headed up the motorway to the annual GO Rentals Auckland Netball Combined Points tournament. It's always a fantastic day with fierce competition across grades. It's also the perfect opportunity to play against schools we wouldn't usually play and prepare for UNISS and other tournaments.
Dio umpires Adam Hape (9A), Caitlyn Forrest (Junior Premier), and Jenny Hansen (Premier) were all selected to umpire their respective semi-final and finals at the tournament. Out of the 93 teams entered, our three umpires were the best in their grade. Congratulations!
Cycling
Dio Cycling had great results at the North Island Secondary Schools Road Cycling Championships.
Congratulations to the following students who placed in the top 10 for the road race and the Junior A Time Trial team who placed 3rd in the U16 Team Time Trial race!
Congratulations to all our Dio cyclists on a great meet.
Rowing
Calling all students interested in being a part of the Dio Rowing Club. Come along to the lecture theatre this Monday, 15 August, at 1:00 pm, meet the coaches and senior rowers, and learn more about the sport and club as we look to start recruiting for the summer season.
Alexandria Endres (Year 13) competed at the 32nd Annual VNEA Junior World Pool Championships in Erie, Pennsylvania, at the end of the school holidays. In the U21 Female 8 Ball singles, Alex took second place. This result saw her selected as one of the players to compete in the ‘best of the best’ challenge, where the top two players from each male and female age group division played off in a knock-out teams event. Alex and her two American teammates won this event. In the team's event, Alex was the only female member of the NZ U21 team which won the redemption division. Last week, the organisers also named Alex to the Championships ‘All-Star Team’. An amazing result after three years of almost no international competition.
Great work, Alex.
