Welcome to Term 4, the culmination of the academic year, which includes a host of events to celebrate the achievements and successes of our girls throughout the year. The warmer spring weather, the promise of the Christmas break ahead and the myriad of much-anticipated end-of-year events contribute to a festive atmosphere throughout much of this term. In rather sombre contrast is the more serious business of preparing for final examinations in mid-November.

Last week, we held our Year 13 Retreat: Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Forward with Hope. The objective of the Retreat is to create a special farewell for our Year 13s, where they can reflect on the past five years, let go of any barriers and burdens and know that they have been valued and will always be valued as important members of our school community.

Many thanks to the girls and staff who have generously participated. Every one of these young women is special, and it is an honour to farewell them in this manner.

Last week was full of celebration, with Founders Day and Dio Day, Prize- Giving and Leavers Service.

Senior Prize is the pinnacle event, celebrating the achievements of our incredible young women. This is an event when we meet as a community to affirm our core purpose and to honour the success of the prize-winners and the talent of the performers. Congratulations to all our prize-winners and especially to our Dux for 2023, Sarah Hilton.

Friday was bittersweet as we farewelled our Year 13 students at the Leavers’ Service. We will later celebrate this important rite of passage with their whaanau at the Graduation Ball.

We look forward to seeing you all at the carol service and junior prize-giving as we marvel at the year that has been and Year 13 parents wonder where the five years of their daughter’s secondary school experience went.

We also take great pride in the Tertiary Scholarships and Awards that have, to date, been awarded to our Year 13 leavers. Congratulations to the students, their teachers and supporting whaanau. These scholarships are based on academic success and a much broader perspective of the whole person.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the coming events.

God Bless
