Boarding at Dio is fun, from milos before bed to getting ready for the social in each other's dorms. In boarding, there is so much you can do, whether going swimming or playing outside with your mates - or even just having some quiet time watching a movie with a friend. Not to mention the food is so good! So far in boarding, I have made some very close friends and really loved being a part of boarding life at Dio. It's like a second home - but living with your friends 24/7! The staff in boarding are excellent. They make you feel so welcome and always wake you up with a smile, not to mention the requests for pancakes over the intercom always make us laugh. In general, I love being a boarder here, and I have made so many unforgettable memories that I will never forget, and I can’t wait to make many more throughout my future years at Dio.
Isla Bell - Year 9 - Moxon House
This term has been jam-packed for Herft House, with the students participating in various winter sports, from basketball to lacrosse. We have had lots of sporting success this term, with special mentions to Fleur Street for placing well in cross-country and Emma Fletcher for doing well in swimming. We constantly bellowed songs from House Singing, lifting house spirit throughout the dorms. More musical talent was unfolding, with lip sync building up in the background. Herft House is ecstatic about lip sync in term three.
We look forward to enveloping them in our community and learning about them. Overall, Herft House has had a fun and productive term two and is looking forward to term three.
Matta Daniel - Year 10 - Herft House
Term Two was full-on in Davis House. We are a very busy house with many people out in the mornings and afternoons with winter sports, and internals are now underway, with some students facing up to 4 in just one week. The level 1 SES and Geography classes have had some exciting trips with some of our year 11 boarders being included, which has been a highlight for these girls. Many girls are now practising for their learner's licence throughout the year. So we thoroughly enjoy coming together as a house on Wednesday nights to practise for the lip sync battle, which is coming up soon, also multiple games and, of course, our weekly just dance video. This is for all our year 11 borders to relax, have fun, bond, and catch up with our friends.
Term two saw the year 11 boarders become closer as a year group as we faced challenges and experiences together. We all can’t wait for many more fond memories to be made.
Ruby Wilson - Year 11 - Davis House
The Year 12 boarders had a hectic start to term 2. Lots of our girls have been busy with all their extracurricular activities. For us, this has meant we have to improve our self-management skills. We have concluded that there are consequences for our actions!
A highlight for the year 12 boarders term two was the May Ball. The week of the ball, we had many girls running out to appointments, doing their daily tasks in heels and looking like they had seen a lot of sun. Although many girls were stressed leading up to it, it was a night to remember, and everyone looked absolutely gorgeous.
We look forward to all the other events this year, especially the lip sync battle.
