In the first half of 2023, Haley Taylor and Graeme Eastwood ran sessions at Breens Intermediate and Isleworth School about embedding UDL practices.

In term one, we looked at what UDL is and why it matters. The video above is an excellent introduction to the concept of changing your aim to capture all learners.

We then used the framework below from udlguidelines.cast.org to consider:

• What are we already doing well?
• What might we do?
• What will we do...

In our follow-up session at Breens, we then explored what teachers had done in relation to the goals set in term one.

Since we've run these sessions the Ministry of Education has released three new Inclusive Design modules to support kura to further develop barrier-free access to education and ensure quality teaching and leadership.
