Susan has been an AKAL since 2024 and is based at Burnside High School - Te Kura o Waimairi-iri

Kia ora koutou

I am very excited about and feel very privileged to join the Waimairi-iri AKAL team in 2024. This is my first year in this role, and I looked forward to developing relationships with staff, students and whānau across the Kāhui Ako.

I teach English at Te Kura o Waimairi-iri Burnside High School, and currently have the position of Literacy Coordinator for NCEA. I am passionate about Quality Teaching and Learning and Student Engagement and Agency. Over the last five years, I have been a Within School lead for Literacy. In 2020 I completed a Master of Education in Literacy, at the University of Canterbury.

I am eager to work with teachers across the different sectors of the education system, to ensure that we are meeting the needs of all ākonga.
