What is “Humans of WHS”?

“Humans of WHS” is the opportunity to tell the tale of someone within our school community.

It is a research project that will enable Year 9 students to apply what they have learned about narrative texts to capture a meaningful story. It is based on the famous photography project “Humans of New York” , https://www.humansofnewyork.com/ . The Year 9s had an interview process and their goals were to tell a story, capturing as many details as possible, be respectful and demonstrate superb listening skills. I hope you enjoy this project that the Year 9 English classes have put together for you.

Sajin Tamang's happiest memory was getting into basketball. When I asked him, it took him a while to answer. It was a conclusive answer. Sajin got into basketball in year 9 at Waimate High School. The reason he wanted to play basketball was because everyone was playing it and he said he was wanting to get fit. That is why Sajin Tamang is a great basketball player today.
