Tertiary liaison visits give our students a firsthand look at courses, facilities, and support services, helping them make informed decisions about future study options.

We had a great turn out of year 12 and 13 students to the first tertiary visit for the year this week with Otago Polytechnic's Liaison Advisor, Steph Kerslake.

Steph gave an interesting and informative presentation about the 150+ courses offered at the polytechnic. From architecture, sport, avalanche and snowsports, nursing, occupational therapy (only place this course is available in the South Island), engineering, culinary arts, computing, farming, design, quantity surveying, and so much more, there are plenty of opportunities for students to explore!

With programmes that offer both theory and lots of hands-on learning, Otago Polytechnic graduates are work-ready and highly employable. As well as certificates and diplomas, the Polytechnic offers degree and postgraduate qualifications. Explore what is offered at Otago Polytechnic via this link and check out the Polytechnic's YouTube channel!

Steph informed students of the new Taster Days which are bite-sized experiences of programmes. Students get firsthand experience of what it’s like to study at Otago Polytechnic by meeting lecturers, asking questions, and even getting hands-on with activities.

Students can contact Steph via the Liaison Contact Form. Students can complete their details and study option(s). This information will go directly to Steph and she will thenfollow up with further information and answer any questions students may have.  This is not an application or any obligation to apply at a later date, simply a smart way to get information.

A reminder to check out the article published each week in the school newsletter "Careers: News, Events & Info!" which includes upcoming events such:

  1. The 2025 Otago Tertiary Open Days will be held on Sunday 4 and Monday 5 May.

  2. Otago Tertiary Information Evenings for students and whānau in Oamaru on 10 June and in Timaru on 11 June.
