Principal's Word
From the Principal - Week 10 Term 3
Kia ora everybody,
As I reflect upon the last term, it's been incredibly busy for our students (and staff!), with lots of extra curricular events going on each week.
This week we held our Market Fair which was a fantastic event and great to see so many people from the community attend. Our students really stepped up and, not only raising money for charity, some made a tidy profit on their stalls, learning teamwork, planning, marketing and financial literacy skills along the way! The only aspect that I didn't enjoy was the 15 minutes I was in the dunk tank, getting dunked far too many times with cold water!
Some dates to be aware of next term:
Sports and Cultural Awards: 20 October
Labour Day: 24 October (School closed)
Senior Prizegiving and last day for seniors: 3 November
South Canterbury Day: 11 November (School closed)
Teacher Only Days: 25 and 28 November (School closed but exams still on)
Junior Prizegiving: 9 December
We held our voting for the 2023 BoT student trustee today. We had 4 worthy candidates who all would have made excellent trustees and I'm pleased to announce that the successful applicant was Chad Jalac who is in Year 11. Congratulations Chad.
Lastly, I want to wish Mrs Nicolson all the best as she leaves us today to go on maternity leave. We wish her and her family all the very best for the upcoming new arrival.
All the best for the holiday break,
Jo
