Waimate High School has 7 basketballers in the South Cantebury Under 13 teams.

Congratulations to Kayla Proudfoot, Lily-Kay Henare, Briar Craig, Milla McKenzie, Sally Cooney, Kourtney Constable and Hunter Briggs for being selected in the Under 13 teams. With over 80 kids trialing in both boys and girls, these players have done extremely well.

Last weekend was the first tournament for these players in Dunedin. This is a pre-season tournament where the coaches are trying new combinations and getting to know their players. All of the teams played extremely well. with a lot of success against some really tough competition such as Otago and Southland.

Emily Cooney was also in Dunedin as a referee for South Canterbury.

The next tournament for Hunter is in Queenstown on the 10th and 11th of September and for Kayla, Lily Kay, Briar, Milla, Sally and Kourtney, their next tournament is in Gore on 17th and 18th of September.

Regionals is the big tournament for these teams and it is  being held in October in Ashburton.
