Nurturing Future Builders & Painters in Partnership with BCITO & Local Employers
We have three Gateway students this year working alongside Richard Geary, Training Advisor with BCITO (Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation).
Our students are completing the NCEA Level 3 BCITO Gateway Advanced programmes in Gateway classes and practical hands-on experience with local employers. Richard supports our students in their learning journey with regular catch ups at school and in the workplace, crucial for potential future apprenticeships.
Despite early starts and long days, Emmet, Jaxson, and Ollie are thriving with this valuable opportunity to explore the real world of work. Awesome mahi Emmet, Jaxson and Ollie!
A huge thank you to Richard Geary at BCITO, Tony Rogers at Interpaint Waimate, and Matt Crouch at MC Building for investing in our students' futures and being amazing partners to our school! We're grateful for your support.
Are you a local employer interested in supporting a young person gain skills and experience? If you are keen on making a difference, please reach out to Cathy or Kylie at Waimate High School to have a chat about the process of being a Gateway employer.
