NZ Defence force visit

Marie Donaldson —

Plenty of action at Waimate High School on Wednesday while the Navy visited.

Former Leading Hydrographic Survey Technician Samuel Martin visited Waimate High School on Wednesday  engaging our students in press up challenges and running challenges. Plenty of NZDF merch was handed out to eager students. Students who were interested in NZDF careers were invited to a kōrero in our library. On further investigation, we found out that Sam was awarded a bravery medal in 2014 for his part in intercepting pirates in operations off the coast of Somalia, Tanzania and in the Indian Ocean. Sam was also the recipient of the CJTF633 Bronze Commendation for exceptional performance.
