✖ 'INSPIRING THE FUTURE AOTEAROA' ✖

Marie Donaldson —

Earlier this term, Year 10 students at Waimate High experienced a morning of guessing the careers of these South Canterbury people.

Year 10 student Heinrich Hutt had this to say:

"I had a lot of fun asking questions to figure out what jobs they did. The people that came into our school were really nice. My favourite person was Charlie who was dressed up in Territorials uniform. I liked the prizes they handed out and I won three prizes".

'Inspiring the Future' is an exciting programme that’s available to schools across Aotearoa. Based on research from Aotearoa and overseas, 'Inspiring the Future' has been created to broaden young people’s horizons, and help challenge stereotypes that can limit their potential.

At an 'Inspiring the Future' event, young people hear from volunteer role models in their communities, learn about different jobs and why people love doing them, as well as their pathway and challenges they faced along the way.

A huge thank you to Courtney Molloy from Venture Timaru for organising this awesome event.  All the role models enjoyed their time at Waimate High and spoke highly of our students.
