ROAD SAFETY WORKSHOPS

    by Sue Bailey

Last term, five Waimate High school students attended the youth road safety education programme (Ryda) held at Levels raceway in Timaru. The programme was well attended by local South Canterbury schools. The day was highly engaging and consisted of workshops led by a team of trained facilitators including the NZ Police, driving instructors and other community sector specialists. Speed, distraction, driver fatigue, drugs and alcohol and seatbelts were all topics of discussion during the workshops. All in all, a very worthwhile day of learning.
