Principal's Word - Term 2 Week 3

Our students at Takapō at the launch of the Matariki Karakia booklet.  by Jo Hunnikin

Kia ora everyone,

Firstly, I'd like to welcome Justine Sceglinskas and Miriam Morton to our teaching staff as they are now teaching Food Technology and Music respectively whilst we continue to recruit permanently to these positions. We are really excited to have them working with us. We are still looking to recruit a part-time Maths teacher.

We're looking forward to Open Day next week as we welcome prospective new students for 2024! Its always good to showcase the many positive things happening at our school.

Yesterday, a group of our Māori students travelled to the Dark Skies Project, Takapō for the launch of the new Matariki Karakia booklet written by Professor Rangi Mātāmua in collaboration with others and Te Arawhiti (The office for Māori and Crown Relations).  The students looked great in their Matariki merchandise!

It's been another disruptive week with the on-going industrial action and please remember that the rostering home of year levels continues next week with Year 9 students being rostered home on Tuesday and Year 10 students being rostered home on Wednesday.

Have a great weekend,

Jo
