Principal's Word - Term 2 Week 9

    by Nicole Cooney

Kia ora everyone,

We are almost at the end of a busy term.

I'm really looking forward to the ball tomorrow, it's a highlight of the year for me, seeing our students 'all glammed up'! I hope the weather plays "ball" and it stays dry for the entrance! Remember that we have a coffee cart available before the ball so you can warm your hands as students are entering the hall.   A friendly reminder that the school does not sanction any 'after parties' occurring and that students must have a ride organised at 11 pm when the ball finishes.

This afternoon the fire service put on a timely demonstration of what a car accident looks like. We had two students involved in the "accident" and the wreckage was cut open by the fire volunteers in a real-life display of how badly things can go wrong in a split second when driving a car. A big thank you to St John who also attended to the students.

It is a relief that the strike action has been called off but there is one final disruption to next week as teachers who are part of the union will be attending a paid union meeting in Timaru so school will finish at 12:30 on Wednesday 28 June. If students require supervision then we will provide this in the library. Please contact the office to let us know if your child requires supervising. Buses will be running as normal.

Have a lovely weekend,

Jo
