Principal's Word - Term 4 Week 2

Our Year 8 students learning valuable first aid skills in the library this week.  by Jo Hunnikin

Kia ora everyone,

Term 4 is in full swing as our senior students get ready to leave and get their final assessments in. We have started to say farewell to some of our students already, with a number leaving this week for apprenticeships or full time employment. As principal there aren't too many things that make me more proud than shaking a student's hand when they are leaving for their next chapter.

Next week we have our Sports and Cultural Awards, our first big celebration and acknowledgement of the achievements of our students. I'm looking forward to hearing our guest speaker, Liam Messam, former All Black, speak to our students.

Last night, I spent time with our fabulous PTA group who are busy putting the finishing touches to our fundraiser cookbook. There have been hundreds of hours gone into producing it and it's looking amazing! I can't wait to see it printed. We'll have more details on how to purchase one soon.

We are 2 weeks into our new cellphone free policy, we've only had 5 students needing to hand over their cellphone this week, which is a huge improvement on last week. Please remember if your child needs to hand in their cellphone a second time then it must be collected by a caregiver.

Have a lovely, long weekend, (go the ABs!)

Jo
