Waimate High School Newsletter

Principal's Word

From the Principal - Week 8 Term 2
    by Nicole Cooney

Kia ora everybody,

As usual, another busy week at Waimate High School with our Open Day yesterday. I would like to thank the families that took time to visit our school. What a pleasure it was to meet our future students! For those families who were unable to make it to the Open Day please make an appointment for a tour of the school during our normal school day - we would love to see you.

Open Days are an important event at any school and I would like to acknowledge the work of all of our staff who made it possible. Walking round the school yesterday, it was  great to see so many of our students involved too. If you attended the Open Day and have any feedback on the day then we would love to hear it.

COVID update.

Our COVID cases have continued to remain low at school, however, the level of sickness is high, particularly in our senior school, with our average attendance sitting at 70%.  I've left the reminders included in last weeks newsletter about isolating times attached here for information. If our numbers remain low then from next term I will not provide any further COVID updates unless things change considerably.

Total positive cases: 133 students and 16 staff members

Current cases: 4 students

Isolating household contacts: 5 students

Recovered students back at school: 129

Average attendance for this week: 70%

I hope you all enjoy this long weekend,

Mānawatia a Matariki!

Jo
