RUGBY LEAGUE - PACIFIC SERIES 2023

Four Waimate High School students were selected in the Aoraki Eels Kotiro Under 15 Rugby League team.  Congratulations to Francis Taafaki, Zaylee Davis, Lily-Kay Henare and Maxine Dela Cruz.

Huge effort from the Waimate High School students representing Aoraki Eels Kotiro U15s at 2023 Pacific Series held in Christchurch.   Bringing the best of the best Rugby league players together in a Pacific Ocean tournament. 

Starting the two day tournament with an early morning March Pass celebrating culture Whakapapa and connection through the Moana. Giving the well trained and committed girls an opportunity for all to compete in rugby league playing Samoa, Cook Islands , Awa, Kotahitanga and Waitaha. 
The team performed the haka before each game showing the crowd that the Aoraki Eels came to compete.

Zaylee made her mark in the tournament early breaking defence lines and scoring tries. Maxine becoming more confident on the field making great tackles. Lily-Kay's play making skills, keeping attacking ball alive. Francis had amazing ball skills , solid runs gaining field every time. Aoraki Eels finishing 3rd at the tournament.  Congratulations girls.
