Waimea College Annual House Day 2026

Jenna Collett —

A Colourful, High‑Energy Celebration of School Spirit

On Friday 27 February 2026, we celebrated our Annual House Day, a spectacular event bursting with colour, competition, and nonstop energy from start to finish. The atmosphere around campus was electric as students brought their enthusiasm to every challenge, performance, and cheering battle.

One of the standout moments was the House Chant Competition, where students showed incredible creativity and pride. Congratulations to Cooper and Ngata, who took out this year’s title with powerful, well‑rehearsed chants that impressed everyone.

The day was packed with activities, from flying Hula Hoops and frantic Bucket Fills to giant whirlpools, land skis, karaoke, turtle ball, and the always‑chaotic giant egg‑and‑spoon race. Laughter, teamwork, and friendly rivalry filled every corner of the field.

We wrapped up with the much‑anticipated Tug of War finale, where house pride was on full display as teams dug deep and battled it out for ultimate bragging rights.

Thank you to all students and staff for bringing the vibes, energy, and enthusiasm that made House Day 2026 one to remember. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

A big shout‑out goes to Amos Haring and Lochie Wright, who captured all the action on camera throughout the day. His photos and videos perfectly showcase the spirit and fun of the event.
