Year 9 Rotoiti Lodge Camps

Andrea Phillips —

On Monday 12 September 9G, 9S and 9W have the opportunity to attend the five day camp at Rotoiti Lodge in the Nelson Lakes National Park.

The camps are carried out in a stimulating and safe outdoor environment. Students develop positive social interactions, challenge themselves both mentally and physically, and learn through being outside their comfort zone. The camps enable staff and students to work together away from the classroom setting.

The cost for each student for the camp is $300. This covers accommodation, food, transport, outdoor qualified instructors and use of specialist gear and equipment. There is an additional charge of up to $10 if gear needs to be hired from the Lodge (to be paid after camp).

Students will also be able to select whether they want to participate in an off-site commercially operated activity of white-water rafting on the Buller River. The cost of this is an additional $120 which represents great value for this exciting activity. Please contact the Waimea College Finance Office if you are interested in setting up an automatic payment to help spread the cost.

A letter with more details including gear list and medical form, will be handed out to these classes in the upcoming weeks. If students are away, they can ask for a copy from the Finance Office following the class discussion. It is important for these forms to be returned to the Finance Office and for payment to be made by 26 August 2022.
