All the latest news from the team at Special Ed

The Outdoor Ed group have been building their skills and fitness across the year in preparation for their overnight camp in November.

The group biked from Motueka to Kaiteriteri and then pitched their tents and set about making the BBQ work. The next day involved a walk from Appletree Bay back to Kaiteriteri.
A huge effort by all of the students; Louy Smith, River Lee Brunning, Aliyah Mounsey, Jasper Perry, Lochie Hewson, Louis Bowne, Tom Storey and Seqouia Hill.

The Transition students have been exploring their study options for 2023 at NMIT. Last week, Ron Main showed the group around the campus and then spoke with them about the Supported Learning courses available in 2023. Jack was particularly impressed with the range of transportation books available in the NMIT library.

As part of “Enabling Good Lives” planning, the seniors are exploring different options for hobbies and activities. Special Olympics Nelson have a wide range of awesome coaches available for a variety of sports. At Greenacres Golf Club, Tony Nayler and Hamish introduced golf skills to this keen group of seniors. William found that it’s not as easy as it looks!
