At the end of Term 2, two Year 9 teams took on the challenge of defending our title as National Champions in the Readers’ Cup Competition.

The regional heat was hosted by Nelson College for Girls and was well attended by colleges from across the Top of the South. The format of the competition was the same as in previous years with teams of 5 challenged to read and answer questions on 6 books.
The book titles this year were; Outlaws Scarlett & Browne by Jonathan Stroud, Pony by RJ Palacio, The Road to Winter by Mark Smith, The Tomo by Mary-Anne Scott, Tiger Daughter by Rebecca Lim and When It Drops by Alex Dyson.

Marlborough Girls College took out the top spot winning with a 4.5 point lead over 2nd place, Motueka High School. Nayland College took 3rd place. Our teams The Wizards of Waimea placed joint 4th with Garin College scoring 43.5 points and The Jane Doe Maze Runners placed 13th with a score of 31.5.
