Athletics Results

Swimming Sports Results

Mia Cain Townley equaled Izzy Thurlow’s 2019 record in the Open Girls 1 length butterfly, andMadeline Seymour beat Maddy Shallcrass’s 1 length Senior Girls backstroke record from 2020.

SISS Mixed Touch

A squad of 14 travelled to Christchurch with their Coaches, Lucas Bartlett and Karl Palmer and Managers, Ang Miller MacDonald and Tommy Moffitt.  The team had some very close games and finished 7th in the South Island.

Sailing

The sailing teams travelled to Picton to take part in the Top of the South Regional Schools sailing regatta.  The A team, comprising of Melvyn Barbier, Josiah Cambridge, Lucy Cameron, Lucy Fillary, Brooke Mundy and Toby O’Sullivan – finished 3rd in Gold fleet and were the top Nelson team.  They travel to the Nationals event which is to be held in New Plymouth in the 2nd week of the school holidays. 

1st XI Cricket – The 1st XI Combined Schools girls cricket team travelled to the Willows Cricket Club to play against Craighead Diocesan where they had a narrow loss.  They had an amazing coaching session with Kirsty Bond (retired White Fern) and on the Sunday, they played another close game against Selwyn.

The Boys 1st XI Cricket team also travelled to Christchurch and played at the Willows Cricket Club on the Sunday.  A tough day at the office and a loss to the boys.  Player of the Day went to Rhys Elmiger, with 2-6 and 36 in his bowling stats.  The team then played the Cashmere High School 1st XI, coming away with a win.

As always, a very big thank you to the coaches and managers and family support for each and every one of our teams competing.

 

SISS Mountain Biking – Ten competitors from Waimea College travelled to Mt Hutt and achieved exceptional results in the highly-coveted Overall category:

  • Fletcher Matthews: 2nd place, U20 Boys

  • Bruno Browne: 4th place, U20 Boys

  • Harrison Lee: 6th place, U16 Boys

The team secured numerous top 10 and top 20 finishes across three disciplines: Cross Country, Downhill, and Enduro. Notable achievements include:

  • Bruno Browne: 1st place, U20 Boys Enduro

  • Lucas Malham: 1st place, U20 Boys Downhill seeding run (5th in final)

All the boys maintained a positive attitude and demonstrated great sportsmanship in challenging conditions.

Additionally, Bruno Browne was awarded 1st place for Best Manners out of 550 competitors.
