Developing empathy is an important evolution in the teenage mind, which is why we explicitly teach this skill at Waimea College.

In Term Two, our Year 9 Ako classes learnt some empathy theory and then engaged in activities with the Special Education Department to experience what it feels like to be on the autistic spectrum. Everybody engaged with the Strive Values – Caring, Learning and Belonging.
