International Department

Hayley Roper —

We are very happy to have welcomed 16 new International Students this term from Germany, Thailand, Japan, and Hong Kong.

We have been very busy hosting Orientation week. All our new students have settled in and are integrating well with the help of our awesome Waimea ‘buddies’. These are students that have volunteered their time to help our new students settle into life here at Waimea College.
This is a very important job and benefits both immensely. The power of a friendly face is never to be underestimated when faced with new challenges. Our domestic students get to improve their leadership and communication skills and, most importantly, make new often lifelong friends from all over the world! So, a huge thank you to all those that have helped this term.

Hayley Roper, our International Manager and Dr. Kay Sneddon, our Southeast Asia Advisor, have returned from Thailand where they met with partner agents, visited schools and met lots of prospective students who will join us next year.  They also held a special Alumni Party in Bangkok with our ex-Waimean students. This was a successful trip reconnecting with the Thai market as we focus on rebuilding the International Department.

We are ready for a busy Term 3 with several events including Gym Night, Movie Night, Host Family Cultural Night, and our annual Ski Trip all coming up in the next few weeks.
