Waimea College Uniform Survey and Changes from 2025

Fraser Hill —

Uniform Survey
We are conducting a comprehensive review of our school uniform and, to start this process, we would like to gather your opinion on what works well, what is fit for purpose and what could do with a change.

This is an initial survey with the purpose of understanding how the uniform impacts the daily experience, comfort, and sense of identity. We aim to collect as many perspectives as possible to guide our areas of focus and ensure we are addressing your needs.

We thank you for taking time to share your thoughts and experiences and we will be in touch next year to request further feedback on the areas of change.

Please use this link to complete the survey (open until the end of Term)

Changes from 2025
We are pleased to announce that we will be adding black sandals as a footwear option as part of our School Uniform from 2025.

Our decision to introduce sandals stems from the strong feedback we received following a survey conducted by our Student Council earlier this year.

This will be a welcome addition for our students and help them to remain comfortable during the warmer months. Black sandals will be an official School Uniform Footwear option for Terms 1 and 4, from 2025 onwards.

Guidelines for wearing sandals;
- Proper Fit: Sandals should fit well with adequate strapping to prevent slipping and tripping (no jandals, no crocs).
- Colour: Sandals must be black.
- Socks: are not to be worn with sandals.
- Restrictions For safety reasons sandals must not be worn during PE classes, Technology classes (including Food Technology) or Science classes.

Another change to our uniform from 2025 will be the addition of plain black socks to be worn with shoes.
