Wellbeing at Waimea College

Paula Campbell —

Wellbeing is now recognised as a key part of helping students succeed at school and fits strongly within the Waimea College values of Caring, Learning and Belonging.

At Waimea College we explicitly teach and learn wellbeing during Ako lessons. The New Zealand Institute of Wellbeing and Resilience defines wellbeing as 'feeling good and functioning well'.

There are many tools our young people can use to be well which they will be exploring throughout the year.

In Ako they will all learn about the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, which you can read more about here: Wellbeing - Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand
