Sarah Kennedy —

A Basketball Tournament, Daffodil Day and Tree Planting feature in this month's edition.

Greymouth Basketball Tournament

Last week the Tournadoes put into practice their weeks of drills, skills and fitness to compete in a tournament in Greymouth. Competition was tough, with games against Papanui High School, Allenvale School and a combined West Coast team.  Through great team work, and a good level of fitness, the Tornadoes won all their games. Highlights from the trip included a visit to Punakaiki Rocks and the QEII Swimming Complex, as well as Mrs Ingham’s home made chocolate eclairs!
Thanks to Ms Roberts for all her hard mahi in coaching, and for all the organisation it took to bring it all together.

Daffodil Day

In preparation for Daffodil day, the cancer research charity, our Transition students, along with Mr McKean, worked as part of a team of 25 community volunteers. They worked at a local florists assembling mixed bunches of 10 daffodils for sale on Daffodil Day.
Great community service, well done team!

Tree Planting

Planting season is here again! With Richard Hilton from the Tasman District Council, students returned to the Estuary Place site where we saw our last year’s trees flourishing. The students worked hard for an hour digging and securing Harakeke and Hebe plants; Chey and Katelyn did a great job assembling the degradable cardboard protectors.
